Admiral Raeder

Hitler came into power in 1933 when Admiral Erich Raeder was chief of the German Navy. Raeder carefully coaxed Hitler to authorize building an immense German battle fleet. This ambitious program aimed to surpass the power of the British Royal Navy. Known as the Z-Plan in 1937, the project would need ten years to fulfill. but Great Britian and France declared war in 1939 and the Z-Plan imploded.
